Our most recent updates about our fellow Plastic-Free Pals in action
Microplastics are in our rivers—and now more people are paying attention.
I’m grateful to have been featured alongside PennEnvironment in The Philadelphia Inquirer, discussing microplastics in the Delaware River watershed and what this means for Philadelphia.
The recent study found microplastics in all 22 waterways sampled across Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, and New York, including the Delaware and Schuylkill Rivers.
As “Dr. Microplastics,” I was able to share some perspective on one question I get all the time: How much plastic are we actually being exposed to?
There is still so much we don't know. That’s exactly why I believe we need better tools, more monitoring, and, most importantly, more people involved in understanding the problem.
This is also the motivation behind my work with Plastic Free Pals: building a community-powered approach to microplastic monitoring, starting here in Philadelphia and eventually reaching much further. Stay tuned for our launch on 10/10!
